Dominator Safe Warranty Explained (Including 25-Year After-Fire Replacement)

Most “safe warranties” are vague. This one isn’t. The Dominator safe warranty breaks things down clearly: lock coverage, safe body + mechanical coverage, what you must provide for a claim, and what’s excluded.

Note: Warranty programs and terms can change over time. We’ll always help you verify what applies to your model and purchase date.

Quick reality check (why people get caught out)

  • Lock warranty and safe body/mechanical warranty are not the same thing.
  • Many customers keep the receipt… but forget the model + serial number (you’ll need both).
  • “After-fire replacement” has conditions (evidence required, and freight/contents are typically not included).

Lock vs Safe Body: They’re Not the Same Warranty ✅

When you read “warranty” on a safe brochure, it’s easy to assume it’s one simple number. In reality, Dominator splits cover into two buckets: the lock (electronic/mechanical) and the safe body + mechanical components.

Dominator Warranty Periods (the simple breakdown)

Warranty Tier Lock Coverage Safe Body + Mechanical Notes
Dominator Standard Care 12 months 2 years Baseline cover (generally applies without warranty registration).
Dominator Extended Care Up to 3 years* 5 years Commonly a FREE upgrade via warranty registration (timelines/terms apply).
Dominator Extra Care 5 years 10 years Paid upgrade. Includes 25-year after-fire guarantee for HS & DS only.

*Important: older printed policy tables sometimes showed “12 months lock” under Extended Care. Current Dominator registration info promotes Extended as up to 3 years for the lock + 5 years for safe/mechanical. If you’re unsure what applies to your safe, call us and we’ll help confirm it from your receipt + serial.

What You’ll Need for a Warranty Claim ?

Dominator’s policy is refreshingly direct: if you want a claim assessed quickly, have your paperwork ready.

Keep this “warranty folder” (digital is fine)

  • Proof of purchase (tax invoice/receipt).
  • Safe model and safe serial number (photo the ID sticker now).
  • Your contact details (name, address, email, phone).
  • Photos if there’s visible damage.
  • If it’s an “after-fire replacement” scenario: incident details and supporting reports (see below).

25-Year “After-Fire Replacement” Guarantee (HS & DS Only) ?

This is the part most people have heard about — and it’s real — but it’s not a blanket promise for every safe and every situation. Under Extra Care, the 25-year after-fire guarantee applies to Dominator HS & DS series only.

What you must provide (typical requirement set)

  • Proof of purchase (invoice/receipt) + you’re still the owner.
  • Description of the incident + safe model/serial + photos of the damaged safe.
  • Supporting report(s): fire department, insurance, or police (as applicable).

What’s typically excluded: contents inside the safe and freight/transport costs for the replacement unit. (This is a key detail people miss.)

“Power for Life” — Free Batteries for Life (How It Works) ?

Dominator also offers a Power for Life program where eligible buyers can register for free batteries for life. The claim is usually managed via a voucher every 12 months, collected through an approved dealer.

Step 1: Register

Register your safe for Power for Life (generally HS/DS series when purchased via a participating stockist).

Step 2: Receive your claim voucher

Typically issued every 12 months (so you can swap batteries before you get caught out).

Step 3: Collect from an approved dealer

Bring your voucher in and collect your replacement battery. If you bought your Dominator from Terry’s Gold Coast Safes, we’ll help you through the process.

Tip: If you want us to sanity-check your warranty tier, send us a photo of your invoice + the serial number sticker inside/side of the safe.

If you want, we can walk you through: which warranty tier makes sense, what documentation to keep, and how to register correctly (including Power for Life where eligible).

FAQ

Does the Dominator safe warranty cover my contents?

Generally no. Warranties cover the product (lock/body/mechanical components). Insurance is what typically covers cash, jewellery, documents, firearms, and other contents.
